Cruise back in time to the Golden Age of bespoke yacht building and step aboard the Gypsy d'Azur, a Coast Guard Registered

1956 cockpit cruiser built by the highly sought-after yard of JT&Son Annapolis MD  (contract # 374).   As Tammy Kennon (USA Today) put it, “some yachts have stage presence. When they enter a harbor, every head turns. Trumpy motor yachts have that hard-to-define appeal. Like a Frank Lloyd Wright house or a Rolls Royce, they are a product of their time yet possess a timeless appeal.”The history of owners who commissioned these one-off yachts reads like a 'who's who" of top leaders of industry and finance;  names like Firestone, DuPont, Woolworth, and John Deering (whose Miami FL mansion and grounds (the Deering Estate) were designed to accommodate his 115 ft houseboat).  Anyone who knows this brand remembers that for over 50 years,  US Presidents welcomed international dignitaries and heads of state aboard the USS Sequoia which is a national treasure by itself! This cockpit cruiser is 55' LOA styling a classic flush deck design that maximizes both the joys of living and playing on her.  She's an excellent vessel to drive when underway with full visibility and access all around the helm station.   From bow to swim platform she's 55' LOA with a beam of 13.8' and a 4.5' draft clearing 16.5 ' from waterline to the top of the mast.Powered by two GM Diesel 671s engines with a Westerbeke 15Kw generator she's the perfect combination of reliability and economy sipping fuel as she glides through the water with her sharp bow profile and full-length keel.   The owner has complete history records starting with the originally signed blueprint, boxes of ships logs from New England to the Bahamas, guest registry, manuals, and records of major work done including the extensive refit done in the mid1990s at Roscioli Yacht where the vessel had fiberglass over the wooden hull.   SIX fuel tanks (approx 500 gallons) allowed for extended cruising for the previous owner who wanted to spend months in the Bahamas without refueling nor paying for freshwater (via watermaker in lazarette).  Layout begins in the bow with crew quarters forward with head and shower. Large foredeck hatch allows direct access from the crew cabin forward up to the deck and exterior without traveling inside.   Galley below and forward of the main salon with sitting area which features rich mahogany paneling and period-correct furniture.  Travel aft to the guest quarters (starboard) with guest head and shower (port) across from the guest cabin.  Guest cabin mid-ship has two beds plus two additional drop-down bunks. The master cabin is the aft section of the ship with a private head and shower.  Owners enjoy a queen-size bed with an abundance of dressers and hanging lockers.  Up three steps and out the full-size door steps you out to the spacious aft cockpit with two secure swivel seats and coffee tables.  Perfect for stepping out of your cabin to enjoy morning coffee without passing through any other area of the vessel. And it's the best seat on the water for sundowners!!   Another huge safety element provided by this full door is the direct exit straight out to the aft cockpit from the master salon.  The current owner has systematically repaired and restored this classic tending to preserve her original glory while also adding modern Navionics, marine WiFi, and many other touches in the galley and engine room. The Gypsy d'Azur is currently being shown in Jacksonville FL.    TEXT ONLY the Captain/owner at 4-0-7  Seven One Nine 9-9-7-7   for more info or to schedule an in-person visit with this regal queen! She's clean and fueled up ...ready to sail.   Where do you want me to deliver her?   Availability of Captains to take her to her new home may be limited,  so as someone who's crawled into every inch of her and knows her 'front to back'  I'm open to discussing the possibility of helping move her if needed. Or the current covered slip could be transferred to the new owner at current grand-fathered rate.
